A: COMMUNICABLE DISEASE The communicable disease topic that I chose to discuss is meningococcal disease. I chose this topic because a close relative of mine was diagnosed with meningococcal in the past. She reported several symptoms including headaches, persist fevers, nausea/vomiting, and body aches during a visit with primary care provider, but was miss diagnosis. It was only after having further testing including a complete set of blood work during an ER visit that she was correctly diagnosed. Blood test tested positive for Neisseria meningitides and meningococcal was diagnosed. She was treated with antibiotics and has since made a full recovery.
