Research Purpose and Questions The research study I chose to evaluate is titled, The First Year as Teachers Assigned to Elementary and Middle-School Special Education Classrooms. The purpose of this study was to gain insight of first year teachers experience and attitudes who took a job in a self-contained classroom designed for students with moderate to severe disabilities. These teachers have been prepared with all current college coursework and career readiness and now their perceptions over the year will be looked at. Specifically, their accomplishments, confidence levels, highlights and lowlights with some of the systemic issues they faced.
