C1. Basic respiratory process begins with air entering your mouth/nasal cavity and passing through the pharynx, continuing through the larynx, and moving into the trachea. The air then passes from the trachea to the Bronchi, travels through the lungs via the bronchioles and alveoli. The alveoli are where the gas exchange takes place. Air is moved in and out of the alveoli for inspiration and expiration, this is done via ventilation. There two types of respiration that takes place, Internal which allows oxygen and carbon dioxide to be exchanged between the blood and cells; external which is the act of breathing or exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide with our environment [ CITATION Par14 \l 1033 ]
