Alcoa got its start in 1888 under a different name Pittsburgh Reduction Company. Around the mid 80's then President Fred Fetterolf decided that the company needed to document the values that all employees must live by everyday. He had a few values that were listed: Integrity, environment, health, and safety. Being that Alcoa was based on strong values, their employees had learned early on in their careers that the choices that they made must follow with what the company was trying to achieve.
