BIO-181L Pre-lab Worksheet: Genetics

In this lab we will review the principles of Mendelian Laws of genetics, and how various traits are inherited from parents to offspring. Chromosomes store genetic information in specific genes that code for a specific trait. We will model the phenotype of the parent and offsprings: Straight, 2 curly antennas and antenna, 4 legs or 6 legs, red nose and yellow nose, 3 body segments and 2 body segments, curly tail and straight tail, 1 color hump or 3 hump, and 2 eyes or 3 eyes. Using Reebop material we will build a phenotypical model of the parent, F1 offspring and F2 offspring. We will also construct a Punnett square.
