Solid Wastes; Hazardous Wastes

The production of solid wastes in the United States is growing both in volume and toxicity. More and more of the products discarded everyday contain toxic chemicals or otherwise hazardous substances that have potential toeventually impact public health and the environment. You are employed by your localpublic health department and are being asked to prepare a document that justifies the necessity for proper handling of hazardous wastesand keeping hazardous wastes out of the solid waste stream in your community. Write a 2-3 page paper in which you do the following:

1) Discuss what may constitute improper practices for the disposal of trash (solid wastes), particularly hazardous wastes.

2) Describe the human health problems that could occur if trash (solid wastes), particularly hazardous waste, is improperly disposed off in your community.

Justify your opinion with evidence from the literature.

Assignment Expectations:

Use information from the modular background readings as well as any good quality resource you can find.

LENGTH: 2-3 pages typed and double-spaced, in addition to a cover page.

The following items will be assessed in particular:

Precision: The question of the assignment is specifically addressed in the paper. Your paper discusses what improper solid waste disposal may mean, and what improper hazardous waste disposal may mean. Human health problems that may be caused by improperly disposed trash, and particularly hazardous wastes, are discussed in you local community setting.

Clarity: The paper reads clearly, it is not confusing. It is well structured and grammatically correct.

Breadth: The paper presents appropriate breadth by presenting several reasons why improper trash and hazrdous wastes disposal presents serious health problems.

Depth: The paper describes well the concepts presented and the concepts are well supported by findings or examples from the literature. These concepts include poor disposal practices of trash, including hazardous wastes, and human health problems associated with this improper disposal in you local community setting.

Application: The paper shows your ability to apply concepts related to the poor disposal of solid wasate, including hazardous wastes, and its potential consequences on human health in a local community setting.

References: At least, two in-text citations are provided as well as a reference list provided at the end of your paper (APA formatting not required but highly recommended).
