Are introverts more likely to diffuse information over the Internet than through interpersonal communication?

ABSTRACT

Few studies have investigated personality traits to explain why only some people diffuse information. This study introduces a gratifications perspective to examine whether typically non-communicators would diffuse more over the Internet than in person, since it gives them the privacy of a one-way communication and yet allows them to communicate rapidly. Using Myers-Briggs scale, the study uses a survey to examine the amount of news diffusion of the 2000 Presidential Elections by introverted Internet users.
