Jeffrey has the opportunity to pursue college and open many doors for himself, even with a learning disability. It is great he is considering postsecondary education. He already has an IEP support team in place so the first things to do are to figure his goals and make sure he is aware of all his options. With the Higher Education Opportunity Act, there is funding for individuals who have learning disabilities to attend college.

Since his special education teacher is aware of his reading level and testing abilities, she has a head start on knowing where he needs help. Once she has discussed all of his options with him, establishing goals will further help him along. He will be aware of what is expected of him in order...
