For many students, there is no need for any assistance to facilitate the learning process; however, for some students there are needs to be enrolled in a special education program.  According to the Ministry of Education for the Province of British Columbia, a special education program is defined as "a supplemental program provided by schools to assist students, identified as having "special requirements", in achieving a Certificate of Graduation and/or other outcomes as specified in the student's Individual Education Plan (Province of British Columbia Ministry of Education, 2011)."  In order for a student to be successfully placed in a special education program, some different things must occur.
