Much of the first nations group health conditions are often described as being similar to those of low income countries despite the involvement of the government in trying to improve their health situation. Health Canada has related that high rates of of both contagious and chronic diseases not only continue to plague first nations but are also on the rise as well as low life expectancy. Chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes which are all 1.5 times reasons exist for the increasing number of chronic diseases which include poverty, geographical isolation which leads to difficulty to access to health care systems and intergovernmental conflicts.
